Fire in your home

How safe are you in your own home?
Not as safe as you think!

Do you know how to get out of your own home?
Yes????……………I bet you don't…!!!!!!

Not through choking thick smoke and through temperatures that you can cook a joint of meat in.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service is advising people to make an escape plan…….Now … when you don't have a fire, in order you can escape safely if you do. You should make your escape plan with other members of your family, so everyone knows the way out from every part of the building.
Please identify other ways out, for when you can't get out of the door you always use. Make sure everyone knows what they have to do.

But you will smell the smoke and wake up won't you?
No actually. Carbon monoxide will put you into a deeper and deeper sleep in your own bed that you will be lucky to wake up from.

But it takes a long time for fire to get a hold doesn't it?
No. A fire will get beyond control in less that 3 minutes. In 5 the temperature in the room can be 1000 oC
