The Priory Forum was founded approximately 7 years ago due to there being a deprived area in the district.
This was a Forum led by the police who called local residents/agencies to meet monthly to engage with each other.
This started as an informal gathering, but after a year or so the police looked for a new person to chair the meeting.
Then the present chair ( Keith Sansum ) was elected.
The format then changed from being not just an information gathering forum but also a positive outlook for the future.
The Priory Forum now runs clean ups in the ward , where local residents get involved in the area to clean up the ward.
More recently it has run a number of fund raising events and opened a bank account with Barclays Bank.
At the very early stage the forum had set up a constitution (available from chair) which clearly states it wants to work with all statutory and voluntary bodies towards the enhancement of the Priory Ward, accessing any funding and carefully managing it for the benefit of the ward.
We aim to support all projects and activities, directing at least 75% of such activity within the ward, but not to exclude projects which can be shared in partnership with other wards. The Forum also has equal opportunities policies.
In June 2007 elected members
Keith Sansum, Chairperson
Roger Walkden, Vice Chairperson
Cheryle McHugh, Secretary
Stephen McHugh, Treasurer
Peter West, Assistant Treasurer
Marian Munt, Assistant Secretary
